How To Start Keeping Shabbat
Shabbat is an opportune time to pause the hustle bustle of life and reconnect with the important things in life. Once a week. Shabbat.
It says: “Ki Eshm'rah Shabbat El Yishm'reini,”
“When I observe & protect the Shabbat, God protects me"
There are many miraculous stories of Jews who took upon themselves to observe Shabbat and have seen personal salvations in their lives.
It’s a protection for you and your family, for the jewish people & the world at large.
On Shabbat we abstain from certain activities for about 25 hrs.
From a little before sunset on Friday till after dark on Saturday night.
These prohibited activities are called "Melacha" and there are many of them. In this video I share a couple of them with you.
Today the goal is to grab something small.
So you can start your Shabbat journey with 1 small step...
First idea:
It’s prohibited to turn on and off lights on Shabbat.
So, choose one room in your house that will be ‘Shabbat protected’, and don’t touch the light in that room for 25 hrs.
Second Idea:
It's prohibited to cook on Shabbat.
Make sure your Friday night meal is cooked and out of the oven Friday before Sunset. So you can avoid cooking at least for that meal.
Remember,
Even though this is just 1 small step,
It’s 1 step closer.

There are many laws and various customs regarding Jewish practices.
The goal of my videos are to enable Jews to get started today, without getting lost in all the details - so you can fulfill the mitzva in its most basic form as soon as possible.
For further your education on the subject, I will always try to add links in the description below.
Judaism is not all or nothing. It's a 'work in progress' relationship with God. It's about taking small steps in the right direction. Let's do this!
