THINGS WE DON'T DO ON SHABBAT -
Using phones — texting, scrolling, calls, or charging.
Turning on/off lights or electronics
Driving or traveling
Cooking or Baking
Shopping or handling money
Writing, typing, or erasing
Laundry or squeezing water from towels/sponges
Gardening — Watering plants or picking flowers
Creating or extinguishing fire
THINGS WE DO ON SHABBAT -
Light Shabbat candles before sunset
Dress nicely to honor the holiness of Shabbat
Make Kiddush over wine or grape juice on Friday night and again on Shabbat day
Wash hands and eat challah at the Shabbat meals
Eat beautiful meals with family, guests, and friends
Sing Shabbat songs around the table
Go to synagogue and pray with the community
Learn Torah or read something meaningful and inspiring
Take peaceful walks and enjoy a slower pace of life
Disconnect from the weekday world and truly rest
For 25 hours, Shabbat becomes a break from the nonstop rush of life and a chance to reconnect to God, family, community, and yourself.
